FM Scenografie’ story can be divided into various periods; at its origins, there is the decades-long experience in theatre sets consolidated by its co-founder, Fortunato Michieli, in his work as chief engineer at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan. It was in this period that he met personalities such as the set designers Ezio Frigerio, Luca Damiani and Maurizio Fercioni, directors such as Giorgio Strehler and Patrice Chereau, organizers such as Paolo Grassi and Nina Vinchi. Just from an idea of one of the personalities of this group, the actor and director Franco Parenti, comes the suggestion to found F.M. Scenografie in Milan, near Via Ripamonti, and starting a close collaboration with the Pier Lombardo theatre.
The success comes immediately: the production extends from the theatrical scenography to the world of advertising for Rinascente, where the visual merchandising office developed at that time. To meet the increasing demands, FM settled in Buccinasco, where it operates in larger spaces. In the meantime, however, other theatrical Institutes appreciate the professionalism of FM Scenographies: in Italy the Alla Scala theatre in Milan, the Regio di Parma, the Stabile di Genova and the Carlo Felice in Turin, abroad the Carouge theatre in Geneva, the Comèdie Française in Paris and the Ginza theatre in Tokyo to name just a few.
FM Scenografie also enters television, becoming one of the most important suppliers of the RAI offices in Milan and Turin as well as for La7, for the creation of successful television sets, in the world of fashion, collaborating in the organization of fashion shows with the house’s production “”Le Simonetta”” of Milan – Krizia, Cavalli, Valentino, perfumery and cosmetics, providing for years corner to Shiseido spa.
To this is to add the collaboration with the Milan Fair, for which critical scenographic elements were created for the MIDO and HOMI events, as well as the creation of essential stands for the Salone del Mobile such as Cassina, Poltrona Frau, Edra and Cappellini.
